                                                                                                            April 28, 2009

Dear Friends,

Isn’t it great to know that regardless of where the world has led us that we still have a place to call home?  Strasburg!  It’s where we grew up, where we went to school, and where we have created some of our fondest memories.  I don’t know about you, but whenever I happen to meet a former classmate or citizen from Strasburg, our conversation normally leads to the inevitable words, “Remember when…”

In our memories, Strasburg will never change.  It will always be filled with people we knew, people we loved, and people filled with a fierce pride in their community.  The fact, however painful, is that Strasburg is no longer the community we once knew.  Like other rural communities in North Dakota, it is forced to make difficult decisions.  These decisions are all centered around one question – Should we stop investing in the community we love and deprive future generations of the opportunity to create their own beautiful memories in Strasburg, or should we continue to carry the torch of hope that built this community?

The Strasburg Booster Club is of the opinion that hope is eternal.  We want to continue to invest in the heart of our community – our school and its extra-curricular activities.  It is our hope that we can begin our rejuvenation efforts by replacing the worn tile floor in the former Emmons Central School gymnasium with a new wooden floor this summer.  Although the costof this project ($65,000) exceeds the funding capabilities of our school district, we believe that this expenditure is absolutely necessary.  Why?  Because it is here, in this facility, where visitors form their first opinion as to what type of people live in Strasburg.  It is here, in this gymnasium, that the pride of Strasburg is most apparent.  It is here, on this playing floor, where some of the fondest memories of school days are created.

Memories are free, but the cost of maintaining and upgrading the places where these memories were made is not.  Please show your pride in your hometown and school by donating generously to this worthwhile cause.  All contributors will be acknowledged by having their name, or in the case of a memorial, the name of their loved one placed on a plaque which will be displayed in the school gymnasium.  Checks should be made payable to:
